Third Quarter:
Remote Online Backup and Law Office Backup exceeded its projected sales goal by 22% in
the 3rd Quarter. Eastern Region Manager Morgan Nevans
attributed the success to 'user appreciation of a well-designed,
end-to-end solution' and 'real affordability without compromising
integrity - a major plus in these budget challenging times'.
The Operations Data Center in Colorado has brought three more of its
poly-terabyte servers online to 'stay ahead of the curve' and
completed installation of an encrypted 20mbit pipe to tier 1 of
Level 3. Denise Weber of the Data Center boasted, 'we have
14ms latency to NY, which is 3ms better than we had planned!".
The mirror in Iowa has completed its installation ahead of schedule
and is alpha-testing the new linux server cluster. Tony
Schmidt, manager of the Iowa Data Center explained, "we take our
responsibility to our client base very, very seriously - not just
with 24/7/365 support, but with industry leading innovation like
mirroring to multiple platforms so that a bad exploit can't damage
our integrity".
American Cancer Society Signs On
Debbie Bailey, Sr. Director of IT for The American Cancer
Society's Heartland Division signed up with Remote Online Backup for
their Enterprise Solution. "We were faced with really variable
storage requirements between new applications and changing staff
loads - our quad-DLT just wasn't keeping up. Our 'daily
backup' was taking up to 26 hours so we were looking at some real
hard choices on funding a tape expansion until our consultants
recommended Remote Online Backup. It paid for itself in one
quarter plus I don't have to worry about staffing to replace tapes
on weekends and holidays. Their customized Terabyte server
placed everything online and now we can restore user files in
seconds instead of hours or even days and I have the confidence of
knowing that all critical data is offsite and mirrored but available
to me 24/7".
Onsite, Offsite - What's The Difference?
Basically, remote backups work like regular tape backups - with one
important difference. Instead of sending backups to a tape drive or
other media attached to the computer being backed up, a remote
backup sends encrypted file data over the internet to a computer
file storage system safely off-site.
